Value Driven Maintenance and Reliability For Process Industries
V.K. Bafna and Paresh Haribhakti at the Conference on "Value Driven Maintenance and Reliability For Process Industries" in Abu Dhabi, UAE

V.K. Bafna and Paresh Haribhakti will be speaking at the conference on "Value Driven Maintenance and Reliability For Process Industries" to be held 3 - 6 September 2006, at the Hilton International Hotel, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Rohit Bafna, Director Global Sales at TCR will also be on-site at the conference to answer questions from participants.

On Sunday 3 September 2006 from 8:30 am to 2:30 PM, V.K. Bafna and Paresh Haribhakti will conduct a workshop titled, "Failure and Root Cause Analysis: A guide to investigating material and component failure."

Value Driven Maintenance and Reliability For Process Industries This workshop provides an extensive analysis into the different types of material and component failures observed in industrial enterprises. Participants will be encouraged to discuss solutions to manufacturing problems and get advice from the workshop leaders towards selecting the appropriate materials to improve overall product quality, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction. Participants will also have time to discuss welding problems and hear solutions to improve the weld process.

This workshop will address and resolve:
Typical root cause metallurgical failure mechanisms
Boiler, heat exchanger and pressure vessel failure
Pipeline failure
Lifting equipment and fastener failures
Gear, shaft and weld failure analysis
Root cause analysis through metallurgical approach
Analysis procedure
Preventing reoccurrence of the failure by insitu metallography approach

Participants will benefit by:
Developing in-house solutions for manufacturing problems
Improving overall product quality through appropriate materials selection
Quickly recognizing the different types of failure for particular units

V.K. Bafna, Managing Director at TCR Engineering Services is a materials specialist with over 35 years of practical experience determining the root cause of materials-related failures in the chemical, oil and gas, construction, manufacturing and commercial aircraft industries. Working with Fortune 1000 companies, leading enterprises and multiple small businesses, Mr. Bafna has developed and defined a new approach to the material testing, research and inspection services delivery model which increases the speed and efficiency while maintaining the high quality standards of the laboratory. Mr. Bafna has practical experience in the fields of corrosion detection, chemical analysis and mechanical testing, failure analysis and materials characterization. He has introduced innovative methods for Non Destructive Testing and was a pioneer in showcasing the advantages of XRF-based positive material identification to the industry.

Paresh Haribhakti, Managing Director, TCR Advanced Engineering has solved materials engineering problems and performed failure analysis on components from petrochemical plants, oil and gas transmission pipelines, offshore structures, ships, pharmaceutical plants and more. He has working experience of more than 250 failure investigation cases of power plants, fertilizers, chemicals and petrochemicals industries. Mr. Haribhakti investigates the available physical evidence, and performs the necessary tests to develop the most probable accident scenario. He simplifies complex engineering theory into easy to understand and useable concepts. He uses simple analogies, every day examples, and laymen terms to explain data and findings so clients, corporate executives, government officials, or attorneys may easily understand engineering concepts.

Prasanth Shetty, Managing Director, TCR-KIL runs one of the leading independent testing laboratory specializing in metallurgical, chemical and materials testing in Kuwait. A state-of-the-art material testing facility in Ahmadi, Kuwait specifically designed for laboratory operations houses chemical analysis spectrometers, PMI, HIC, SSCC, Salt Spray, Tensile, Impact, Hardness, NDT, as well as an extensive wet chemistry lab, and a metallurgical lab.

This conference is being organized by International Quality and Productivity Center (IQPC) Middle-East. A brochure for this event is available at value-driven-maintenance-and-reliability.pdf.
