The Quality Management System
The Quality Management System runs on ISO/IEC 17025:2017, which carries the ISO 9001 management-system requirements and adds the technical-competence requirements above them, with NABL 100, 160, and 216 as the national application criteria.
| Module | Reference |
|---|---|
| Quality Manual and Procedures | NABL 100, NABL 160, NABL 216 |
| Document control, internal audit, management review | ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Clause 8 |
| Method validation | ISO/IEC 17025:2017 clause 7.2.2 |

| Equipment calibration | ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Clause 6.4 |
| Reference materials | ISO 17034; ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Clause 6.5.2(b) |
Metrology and Traceability
Every measuring instrument in the working chain is calibrated against a reference traceable to a National Measurement Institute (NPL India, NPL UK, NIST USA, PTB Germany) through an unbroken calibration chain. The calibration records are document-controlled and the NABL audit trail establishes that the chain has not been broken.
| Calibration Family | NABL-Approved Calibration Source |
|---|---|
| Force standards (UTMs from 0.5 kN to 1,000 kN) | NABL CC-prefix calibration laboratory; force-standard machines traceable to NPL India |
| Hardness reference blocks (Vickers, Brinell, Rockwell, micro-hardness) | NABL CC; reference blocks traceable to NPL India and BAM Germany |
| Temperature standards (creep frame thermocouples up to 1,100 °C) | NABL CC; NIST-traceable platinum resistance thermometer calibration |
| Pressure standards (CTOD machine, fatigue rig pressures) | NABL CC; deadweight tester traceable |
| Mass standards | NABL CC; F1 / E2 standard weights |
| Dimensional standards (extensometers, micrometers, gauges) | NABL CC; gauge blocks traceable |
| Spectrometer standards (OES, XRF, ICP-OES) | Certified Reference Materials per ISO 17034 |
| Charpy reference samples | NIST and IRMM Certified Reference Samples |
The decision-rule framework (ILAC G8) is documented for each method. The Total Measurement Uncertainty is reported on the test certificate where the method scope and the buyer demand it (typical for sour-service corrosion, fatigue and CTOD, creep, and aerospace verification testing).
Inter-Laboratory Comparison and Proficiency Testing
The ILAC P10 framework requires participation in inter-laboratory comparisons (ILC) and proficiency tests (PT) to demonstrate ongoing technical competence. The TCR record runs across NABL-organised PT schemes, NPL-organised ILCs, and international rounds (LGC, ERA, BAM).
| Programme | Scope |
|---|---|
| NABL PT schemes | Mechanical (E8 tensile, E23 Charpy, E18/E10 hardness), chemical (alloy-steel composition), corrosion (NACE TM0177, TM0284), metallography (E112 grain size, E45 inclusion rating) |
| ITER France cross-check | Industrial Research vertical anchor (autoclave deliverable) |
| BAM Germany ILC rounds | Reference-material verification |
| NPL India PT schemes | Calibration verification across force, hardness, temperature, pressure, mass |
| In-house ILC across TCR Engineering, TCR Eastern, TCR Arabia, TCR Advanced | Method consistency across operating sites |
The Z-score discipline applies: any test method that returns a Z-score outside the absolute value of 2 triggers an internal corrective action workflow. Z-score outside the absolute value of 3 triggers an immediate re-run plus a method-validation review. The Z-score record is auditable through the QMS.

Operational Discipline at Group Level
The discipline runs at three levels.
- Documentation level: Every test method has a controlled procedure. Every controlled procedure has a method-validation pack, a measurement-uncertainty evaluation, and an audit-trailable revision history. Every test certificate carries the NABL ULR (Unique Laboratory Report) number.
- Personnel level: Every operator carries a credential the NABL audit can verify (ASNT Level II / III, PCN, API, AMPP/NACE, CSWIP, AWS, AERB RSO). Every senior bench role is named, credentialled, and accessible.
- Asset level: Every measuring instrument is calibrated, traceable, and within validity. Equipment out of calibration is removed from service. The 300+ instruments across Mahape, Bhubaneswar, Vadodara, and Dammam are maintained on a calibration calendar managed through the QMS.
The discipline does not show in the marketing surface area. It shows in the audit. The NABL re-accreditation cycle, the BIS verification visit, the AERB inspection, the IBR audit, and the client second-party visits all continue to clear without significant non-conformities, which is what allows the rest of this site to make the claims it makes.
A full register of TCR's mechanical, chemical, metallurgical, corrosion, non-destructive, civil, and field-deployable inspection equipment, with makes, models, ranges, and calibration traceability, is maintained under the quality management system and is provided to clients and auditors on request.
The approvals universe
The statutory and client-approvals universe is the procurement gate. Every formal credential here represents a vendor-evaluation cycle that the buyer no longer has to repeat. The four-tier framework keeps the surface area readable: statutory authorities; owners; engineering, procurement and construction contractors; OEMs and licensors.
