Machine shop of Nitin Castings Limited in India: rows of centrifugally cast alloy steel tubes and rolls laid out beside lathes and boring machines under an overhead crane

Article

Nitin Castings Limited, a Mumbai-headquartered manufacturer of centrifugally cast alloy steel tubes listed on BSE, has appointed TCR Arabia Company Limited of Dammam as its exclusive authorised agent in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The appointment covers the petrochemical, oil refining, fertiliser and direct reduction of iron (DRI) sectors, and puts Nitin Castings' reformer tubes, cracker coils, MIDREX tubes and other high-temperature castings in front of the Kingdom's operators through a company that has worked inside those plants since 2007.

Why reformer tubes matter in Saudi Arabia now

A steam reformer is the front end of an ammonia plant, a methanol plant, a hydrogen unit and a gas-based DRI module. Natural gas and steam pass through catalyst-filled tubes hung inside a fired furnace, and those tubes decide how long the plant runs between replacements. Primary reformer tubes in HP-modified and micro-alloyed centrifugally cast grades run at the edge of their creep limit, where a 10 to 20 °C overshoot in tube metal temperature cuts tube life substantially. The casting behind the tube, its chemistry, its wall and its soundness, is therefore a reliability decision, not a purchasing detail.

The Kingdom is adding exactly the capacity that consumes these tubes, on top of an installed base that needs replacement sets campaign after campaign:

SignalOperator and locationWhat it addsWhen announced
Seventh fertiliser plantSABIC Agri-Nutrients, Jubail Industrial CityA single-train 3,500 t/day ammonia plant on KBR Purifier technology, about 1.2 million t/year of ammonia, lifting urea capacity from 4.8 to 7.4 million t/yearFeedstock approval March 2026; technology selection 29 September 2026

New plants buy tubes at construction. Plants already running buy them again at every retirement, and the installed base along the Gulf coast, in Jubail, Dammam and Ras Al-Khair, and on the Red Sea at Yanbu, is where most of that demand sits. That is the market the appointment addresses: the fertiliser, refining and petrochemical and steel operators who own reformers and DRI furnaces.

What Nitin Castings brings to the Kingdom

Nitin Castings has made alloy steel castings for more than six decades. In 1974 it entered a technical collaboration with Schmidt + Clemens of Germany to manufacture horizontal and vertical centrifugal castings; the collaboration ended in 1989 with the transfer of technology, and the company has made reformer tubes independently since. It reports having supplied more than 7,000 reformer tubes to plants in India and abroad.

Why a listed manufacturer chose TCR Arabia

A manufacturer entering Saudi Arabia needs three things it cannot ship in a crate: registration with the operators who buy, an engineer in the Kingdom who can answer a technical question in the operator's own terms, and a partner whose name the operator already trusts. TCR Arabia has spent its whole life building those three things, which is why Nitin Castings, a company answerable to its own shareholders, chose to put its Saudi business in TCR Arabia's hands.

  • Presence: in the Kingdom since 2007, with offices in Dammam, Al-Jubail and Yanbu, the three industrial centres where the reformers and DRI furnaces are.
  • Standing with operators: approved by Saudi Aramco and SABIC since 2007, and registered with 40+ major Saudi companies.
  • People: 150+ employees, of whom 100+ are NDT professionals.
  • Ownership: a joint venture of TCR Engineering, founded in 1973, and GAS Arabian Services, listed on the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul: 4146).
  • Technical depth on this exact component: the TCR group has scanned 50,000+ reformer tubes in more than 100 reformer-tube campaigns through its ARTiS practice, so the people representing these tubes understand how they age in service.

TCR Arabia's role is commercial and technical representation: registering Nitin Castings with the Kingdom's operators, taking enquiries, carrying technical clarifications between the plant and the foundry, and supporting the customer locally from enquiry through delivery. The castings are manufactured, tested and certified by Nitin Castings under its own quality system.

Saudi Arabia is adding ammonia, methanol and direct reduction capacity, and every reformer in the Kingdom needs tubes that last a full campaign. Nitin Castings brings more than six decades of casting and more than 7,000 reformer tubes supplied. TCR Arabia brings its presence in the Kingdom since 2007 and the relationships to put that capability in front of the operators who need it. We choose our principals carefully, and once we commit to a partner, we stand by them.

A platform for manufacturers entering the Kingdom

The Nitin Castings appointment is the first step in a deliberate direction. TCR Arabia intends to represent a small number of capable manufacturers, in India and elsewhere, that make products the Kingdom's plants need and that lack a route to the operators who buy them. What it offers each principal is what it offers Nitin Castings: a sales network built since 2007 through work inside Saudi plants, technical people who understand the equipment the product goes into, and a management that keeps its word to partners.

  • Who it suits: manufacturers of engineered products for petrochemical, refining, fertiliser, steel and power plants, with a quality system and a reference list of their own.
  • What TCR Arabia provides: operator registration, market access, technical liaison and local support in the Kingdom.
  • How to begin: a manufacturer considering the Saudi market can write to sales@tcr-arabia.com, or reach the group through the contact page.

A manufacturer listed on BSE in Mumbai and a Saudi joint venture whose partner is listed on the Saudi Exchange now stand behind this representation. Together, Nitin Castings and TCR Arabia aim to take Indian centrifugal casting further into the Kingdom's plants than either could alone.

Frequently asked questions

Who is Nitin Castings' agent in Saudi Arabia?

TCR Arabia Company Limited, headquartered in Dammam, is the exclusive authorised agent of Nitin Castings Limited in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the petrochemical, oil refining, fertiliser and direct reduction of iron sectors. Enquiries go to Syed Ameen Hassan, Country Manager, at sales@tcr-arabia.com.

What products does the appointment cover?

It covers the complete range Nitin Castings manufactures for those four sectors: centrifugal castings for high-temperature and corrosive service, investment castings, sand castings and shell-moulded castings. That includes reformer tubes, cracking coils, inlet and outlet manifolds, MIDREX and DRI process gas heater tubes, and related assemblies.

Is Nitin Castings a listed company?

Yes. Nitin Castings Limited is listed on BSE in India under scrip code 508875 and is part of the Kedia group. It manufactures at Silvassa, with machining and fabrication at Vapi, and has made alloy steel castings for more than six decades.

Why do reformer tubes matter to Saudi plants?

Reformer tubes carry natural gas and steam through a fired furnace at the front end of ammonia, methanol, hydrogen and gas-based DRI plants. They run close to their creep limit, so a small rise in metal temperature shortens their life, and every reformer replaces its tubes on a planned cycle.

Does TCR Arabia manufacture or certify the tubes?

No. TCR Arabia represents Nitin Castings commercially and technically in the Kingdom: operator registration, enquiries, technical liaison and local support. The castings are manufactured, tested and certified by Nitin Castings under its own quality system.

Can other manufacturers approach TCR Arabia for representation?

Yes. TCR Arabia intends to represent a small number of capable manufacturers whose products serve Saudi petrochemical, refining, fertiliser, steel and power plants. A manufacturer considering the Kingdom can write to sales@tcr-arabia.com to begin the conversation.
